BFAS
Relying
on the proven relationships between current and impedance, the BFAS
battery monitor, detects
battery failures, DC filter failures, inverter shut down and transfers
to bypass.
Battery Failure Alarm Systems has developed a revolutionary battery
monitor that continuously checks on-line UPS system batteries and
dependably signals a local and/or optional remote alarm anytime
the battery is unable to perform. This unique monitor does not require
a battery discharge or system down time to effectively monitor single
or parallel strings. This monitor is installed easily, totally non-invasive
of the UPS. Installation is done without disruption to the load
or battery system. The normal open alarm contacts can be used to
activate a modem or signal a remote monitor. Once installed, this
battery monitor will sound an alarm when conditions indicate that
the battery systems cannot support the load should a power failure
occur.

DIMENSIONS
8.4" (W) X 10.4" (H) X 7.13" (D)
WEIGHT 6.5 LB.
OPERATING TEMPERATURE RANGE 0 - 40 DEGREES C.
As a battery develops problems, its impedance will rise and less
AC current will flow. AC current is a normal, though minor, component
in the charging circuit of the battery systems.
This monitoring instrument is adjusted to alarm at a low current
threshold, allowing time for pre-emptive battery service to replace
the failed cell or battery before the system fails.
DC filter capacitors are monitored via a high current alarm set-point.
As DC filter capacitors deteriorate, there is a rise in AC current.
The BFAS Monitor will sound an alarm that will prompt replacement
of the DC filter capacitors before system performance is compromised.
Without shutting down your system, installation is simple and non-invasive.
